Hi Travers, yes the mortgage process can be a little daunting. The choices are going to a local bank or working with a mortgage broker. Sometimes you work with the owner directly and the owner can hold the mortgage if he/she owns the property free and clear. Sometimes you can rent a property with an option to purchase it at a fixed price set at the time you sign the lease. I think these are the most popular forms of obtaining a mortgage. However, anyone at anytime can get behind in their mortgage due to any number of reasons, ie. death in the family, loss of a job, divorce, illness are among the most popular reasons. Thank you for your comments. If you want to keep your home, now is the time to contact me. As I have stated all along, this is a mortgage problem and not a legal problem. Please do not go to attorneys, they don’t know how to do this properly. I just spoke with a client who has already given an attorney $4,800.00 and now he tells her she won’t be able to get a modification because she isn’t making enough money. I pre-qualified her and she absolutely qualifies. I can’t believe that this attorney had the nerve to then tell her to call him back in February and he’ll see what he can do and he had her give him 4 post-dated checks to be cashed over the next year. I told her to go get her checks back from him. There are so many stories like this that I just shake my head. This is why it is so important for anyone who is finding me, to not keep me a secret.
